What is hyperthermia treatment?

What is hyperthermia treatment?

Hyperthermia is a medical procedure in which the temperature of the body or a tumor-affected area is raised under strict medical supervision to approximately 38.5–43.0°C using specialized devices.

This temperature increase:

  • Exposes tumor cells to heat stress

  • Improves blood circulation, enhancing drug delivery

  • Increases the effectiveness of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiotherapy

  • Helps the immune system recognize cancer cells

The procedure is performed according to German medical standards.

Types of hyperthermia

1. Local hyperthermia

  • Heats tumor tissue to 40–45°C

  • Destroys or sensitizes cancer cells

  • Targets only tumor tissue without harming healthy cells

2. Regional hyperthermia

  • Heats deep-seated tumors to 43–45°C

  • Used alone or with other therapies

3. Whole-body hyperthermia

  • Raises body temperature to 38.5–41°C

  • Used in advanced or metastatic cancer

  • Enhances other treatments

Indications

  • Local/regional: cancer treatment

  • Whole-body: also used in chronic inflammation and immune ضعف

Treatment is personalized by a physician.

Procedure

  • Depends on the type of hyperthermia

  • Entire body or specific area is heated

  • Whole-body treatment uses a special heating chamber

  • Vital signs are continuously monitored

Is it suitable for everyone?

No. It is determined individually based on:

  • Medical history

  • Comorbidities

  • Ongoing treatments

  • Overall health condition

How long does WBH (Whole Body Hyperthermia) take?

WBH (Whole Body Hyperthermia) typically lasts 2–3 hours. This includes:

  • preparation phase

  • gradual increase of body temperature

  • recovery (cooling) period

The patient remains under continuous medical supervision throughout the procedure.

Is hyperthermia painful?

No. WBH hyperthermia is considered a non-invasive and painless procedure.
Patients often describe it as a pleasant, sauna-like warming sensation.

Is hyperthermia safe?

When performed using modern medical equipment and under the supervision of experienced professionals, hyperthermia is considered a safe treatment method.

At our clinic, WBH is performed:

  • using the Heckel HT 3000 system

  • with continuous monitoring of all vital signs

How many sessions are needed?

The number of hyperthermia sessions is determined individually and depends on:

  • diagnosis

  • overall health condition

  • treatment plan

In most cases, treatment is carried out based on a personalized program.
